interested in taking the Driver Theory course should stop in the Guidance
Office for a registration form. Classes
will be held Saturdays/Sundays beginning in October. The cost of the course is $50 and must be
paid with your registration. Any
questions, see Mrs. Curry.
1. School photographs
will be taken tomorrow. Students will be
called down over the intercom system by homeroom. ALL STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE THEIR PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN
FOR THEIR STUDENT ID EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT ORDERING A PICTURE PACKAGE. Order forms were handed out in homerooms last
week. Any one who did not receive an
order form should stop in the Main Office.
Any SENIOR who needs a photo ID should report to the auditorium when
their homeroom is called.

The Pennsylvania
Society is pleased to announce the 9th annual Benjamin Franklin
Scholarship Award. This writing
competition is open to all Pennsylvania Public School students in their junior
year of high school. Students submit an
original essay of not more than 750 words discussing modern day relevance of a
selected quotation by Benjamin Franklin.
For more information, see Mr. Seely or Mrs. Curry in the Guidance
Office.
2.On
Thursday, September 18th, Homecoming Narrator and Talent auditions
will be held in the auditorium after school.
Any students interested in narrator should pick up a script from Miss
Glass in room 7. Musical acts should be
memorized. Any questions, see Mrs.
Driscole.

2. A student is needed
as a tutor for 5th grade math.
This is a volunteer position which may be used toward your Graduation
Project. Interested students should see
Mrs. Curry in the Guidance Office for more information.

2.The PSAT will be given here on
Wednesday, October 15th, during periods 1 through 4. All college-bound juniors and sophomores
should plan to take the PSAT. The cost
of the test is $14.00. There are a
limited number of tests available.
Students may register with Mrs. Curry in the Guidance Office.
1.The SAT will be given here on October 11th. The deadline to register for the SAT is this
Friday, September 12th.

22. Penn State Hazleton is offering an SAT Test Prep Course. SAT Prep Math will be held on Tuesdays -
September 23rd through October 28th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
at a cost of $159 which includes the textbook.
SAT Prep Verbal will be held on Thursdays – September 25th
through October 30th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at a cost of $159 which
also includes the textbook. Students who
would like more information may stop in the Guidance Office.
1. King’s College will hold an Open House on October 5th and also on November 16th from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. If King’s is on your list of colleges, plan to attend one of their Open Houses. It’s a great way to learn more about the college and get to know the campus. For more information or to register, visit their website www.kings.edu

Hello, I’m Ellie and I am
here with Jillian. This year, FYI is
going to try to let you know what is happening around our school. So let’s kick off this segment with a few
opportunities for students to earn hours toward their graduation project.
2.
The Berwick YMCA is
looking for student volunteers to help clean their outside grounds and flower
beds. Students interested should go to
the YMCA front desk
1.WVIA-TV is looking for student
volunteers to answer telephones for their September Pledge Drive. The dates are Saturday, September 13th
from 8:00 am to 11:00 am; Sunday, September 14th from 8:00 am to
11:00 am; Saturday, September 20th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am; and
Sunday, September 21st from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Interested students should see Mrs. Curry in
the Guidance Office.
2.If
you are between the ages of 14-18 and enjoy working with young children,
consider signing up for the Big Buddy Program. Students are paired with
Little Buddies who are between the ages of 3 – 10 and meet once a month at the Family
Center to take part in fun activities. Sign up in the guidance office by
September 12th.
1.The Nescopeck
Alumni Association is looking for students to help set up and tear down for
their Class Reunion on October 18th and 19th. Anyone interested or needing more information
should see Mrs. Curry in the Guidance Office.
2.These are great opportunities to earn a lot of hours for the graduation project and
have fun.
I am going to check them out, and I Know many others who haven’t even
started earning hours. This is the time to
get up to the guidance department.

Against Destructive Decisions will hold their first meeting this Thursday at
7:30 am or 2:35 pm. All students are
welcome to join. Any former SADD member
who is interested in running for an officer position, please submit your
request in writing to Mrs. Henry by tomorrow.
1.Tony Bellizia from Bloomsburg
University’s Upward Bound program will be set up in the cafeteria during
lunches tomorrow. If you are in 9th
or 10th grade, considering college but are the FIRST in your family
to go there, stop by and grab an application from Tony. Upward
Bound is an amazing program that prepares high school students for the
rigor of college. Applications will also
be available in the Guidance Office. See
Ms. Zluchowski for more information.
2.Bloomsburg
University will host a Visual and
Performing Arts Major Day on October 14th. Call 570-389-4284 to reserve your space.
1.Wilkes University
will hold an Open House on Saturday, September 20th; Saturday,
November 15th; and Saturday, January 31st. Instant admission decisions will be available
on the November and January dates. For

2.Luzerne County Community College will hold a Computer
Information Systems Open House on Saturday, November 1st from 10:00
am to 12:00 noon at their Main Campus in Nanticoke. CIS faculty will be available to answer
